Founded by Richard Koch in 1946 in Oberfrohna, the machine shop initially employed three skilled machinists to manufacture spare parts, small machines, and chucks for watchmaker’s lathes.
Since 1974, the company has been managed by his son, Werner Koch, Graduate Engineer (Dipl.-Ing.) and Master Mechanical Engineer.
Until 1989, production focused primarily on chucks for watchmaker’s and small lathes, special-purpose machinery for the needle manufacturing industry, and the so-called „productivity-enhancing equipment for the skilled trades“.
Over the years, the company has grown into a modern manufacturing business with a comprehensive fleet of advanced machine tools. To ensure a continuous supply of highly qualified skilled workers, the company has been training apprentices for many years.
In 1998, the company moved into its new production facility in the Kändler industrial park, a district of Limbach-Oberfrohna.
In 2008, the facility was expanded, doubling the production area from 750 m².
In September 2016, Werner Koch officially handed over the company’s management to his children, Sandra Koch and Martin Koch, both of whom had already been part of the business for many years.
